Dustin Risdon said last week after finishing a blazing second in the Canadian Tour's Players Cup in Winnipeg that he would refuse to be intimidated at this week's RBC Canadian Open, his first-ever PGA tour start.

But even a headstrong, self-professed farm boy from Alberta felt the pull of the big-time tour.

"I guess I have been a little intimidated," Risdon, 27, said Friday after completing a 33-hole day at Glen Abbey Golf Club. "Yesterday, starting the round was pretty rough. I was nervous the first couple of holes, then my girlfriend calmed me down. She's great to have on the bag. She kept me calm out there today, too. I thought I lost it a few times."

His caddy Jeanette proved very wise as Risdon fired 68-72 and qualified for weekend play at the Open.
