BASIC BOUNCES INTO CONTENTION AT WORLDWIDE SELANGOR MASTERS
Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, August 8: Australia’s Neven Basic fired a four-under-par 67 to move into second place at the Worldwide Selangor Masters after the weather-disrupted second round completed on Friday.
Basic, who was unable to tee off his second round due to inclement weather on Thursday afternoon, returned to Seri Selangor Golf Club early this morning and made his move up the leaderboard with a two-day total of seven-under-par 135.
He is two strokes behind leader Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand who had completed his second round with a course record 63 on Thursday.
A total of 89 players resumed their second round today, with first round leader Chinnarat Phadungsil amongst those completing his remaining 17 holes with a 72 and joined compatriot Chawalit Plaphol, Malaysian duo of Iain Steel and Ben Leong and Australia’s Adam Blyth in a tie for third place at the RM1 million (US$310,000) Asian Tour event.
