After a futile wait as the first reserve at the British Open two weeks ago, New Zealand’s Mark Brown will jump straight back into action at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club this week.

Brown, the current leader of the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit, will be part of an Asian Tour contingent which includes Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng and Australian Scott Strange who will chase for a slice of the US$8 million on offer in the third and final World Golf Championships event this season.
The Kiwi was a frustrated man at Royal Birkdale as he waited in vain for a chance to compete in the British Open. To add salt into his wound, Scotland’s Sandy Lyle and Rich Beem of the US walked off from their first round following poor weather.
The talented Brown has enjoyed a strong 2008 season where he won back-to-back titles at the SAIL Open and Johnnie Walker Classic, both held in India, in February.
