Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational: Molder forgoes style points, shares lead

Four golfers have been first-team All-Americans all four years of their college careers. Three won multiple times on the PGA Tour. One, David Duval, briefly was the best player in the world. Another, Phil Mickelson, is now the best of the rest chasing Tiger Woods.

And then there's Bryce Molder.

"I've gotten past kind of thinking, 'Well, I should be doing this because I did really well before,' " Molder said. "But in the meantime, it's not a lot of fun."

For 18 holes yesterday, though, it was fun again for the former college player of the year at Georgia Tech. Taking advantage of a 7:10 a.m. tee time and soft, smooth greens, Molder posted a 4-under-par 67 at Ohio State's Scarlet Course that was equaled but not surpassed in the first round of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational.
