Rick Rhoden wins record seventh celebrity golf championship at Tahoe

Rick Rhoden birdied the last two holes Sunday to win a record seventh American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, edging four-time champ Dan Quinn on the shores of Lake Tahoe where they've been rivals for 18 years.

Rhoden dropped a six-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th to shoot a 2-under-par 70 and total 68 points in the modified Stableford scoring system, one ahead of Quinn and four ahead of Tony Romo and Grant Fuhr at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Rose reluctant to dwell on Birkdale memories

Justin Rose, firmly established as one of the game's leading professionals, has no desire to turn back the clock when he competes in this week's British Open at Royal Birkdale.

Ten years ago, Rose stunned the golf world with a grandstand finish at Birkdale, chipping in on the final hole to tie for fourth place and win the silver medal as the leading amateur.

Kenny Perry Wins John Deere Classic for Third 2008 Golf Title

Kenny Perry won for the third time in his past five U.S. PGA Tour starts, capturing the John Deere Classic on the first hole of a playoff after Jay Williamson and Brad Adamonis both hit shots into a water hazard.

Perry, 47, earned $756,000 for the win, which follows up his titles at Jack Nicklaus's Memorial Tournament and the Buick Open earlier this year.

Golf club lifts bare legs ban

A golf club in one of England's most traditional seaside towns is allowing men to show off their legs for the first time in 113 years.

Committee members at Frinton Golf Club, in Frinton, Essex, have relaxed a rule which said men had to wear knee-length socks with shorts.

Now men can make their way around the club's two courses dressed in shorts and short socks.

Historic golf win for Norway

Golf is still considered an emerging sport by many in Norway, but it's been making headway over the past decade. Now not just one but two female players have helped cement the country's golf status overseas as well.

Suzann Pettersen has long been the reigning queen of golf in Norway, and she handily won the Irish Open in Dublin over the weekend after shooting 69-69-67 for a five-stroke victory on Sunday.
